
500 Palestinian families in Jerusalem are about to have their homes demolished
May 27, 2019In April, the Israeli High Court approved the demolition of 60 buildings in Jerusalem that house over 500 Palestinian families. The official justification for this is the fact that these buildings lack permits. However, it is virtually impossible for Palestinians to gain building permits due to zoning laws in Palestinian neighbourhoods. Meanwhile, municipal officials are trying to retroactively approve buildings constructed by Israeli settler groups in Jerusalem that were also built without permits. Read more here.
