Palestinians Reject Trump’s Deal

January 31, 2020

After extensive delays, the Trump Administration has finally unveiled its Middle East Peace Plan, formerly known as the “Deal of the Century.” With no Palestinians present in the room, President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu unveiled the plan, which:
– Legalizes all Israeli settlements, annexing them indefinitely for the Israeli state
– Organizes Palestinians into “bantustans” – drawing further parallels between Apartheid Israel and Apartheid South Africa
– Declares Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel
– Annexes the Jordan Valley
– Denies Palestinians the right of return
– Demands the demilitarization of the entire future Palestinian state

Thousands of Palestinians have taken to the streets to protest against the plan, which has also been rejected by the United Nations as being inconsistent with international law, and UN Security Council resolutions.

“Americans now have to decide, do you support apartheid, or do you not support apartheid?”

“A Palestinian-Israeli Peace with No Palestinian in Sight”
“As you read and list to the analysis of this plan, ask yourself who is speaking and who is missing from the conversation. What does it mean that an impeached president and a prime minister indicted for corruption are writing a vision for peace? As you examine images of territory and roads, imagine instead neighbourhood after neighbourhood, family after family separated. As you hear about offers and rejections, the question is instead the premise that the United States has a legal or moral authority to offer Palestinians a set of borders.”

“The Deal of the Century is Apartheid”
“President Trump’s peace plan was labelled the ‘Deal of the Century’ because it was supposed to bring peace and dignity to the people of the Middle East. Instead, the ‘peace plan’ does the exact opposite and resurrects apartheid, a racist political system that should have been left in the dustbins of history.’
