For three decades the Rev. Dr. Naim Ateek, a former Canon of St. George’s Cathedral, Jerusalem, and the founder of the Palestinian liberation theology movement, has been inspiring readers with his ideas about faith, justice, and the Holy Land. He has been at the forefront not only of efforts to bring the plight of Palestinian Christians to the world’s attention, but also of the quest to theologically re-think the place of the Holy Land’s indigenous people in Christian faith and scripture.

Walter Brueggemann, one of the world’s foremost Old Testament scholars, writes in the foreword to Rev. Ateek’s latest book that it is “a venture in truth-telling advocacy” – embodying a philosophy that “upends all partisan claims and concerns God’s love for the whole world, and the truth that we cannot love God if we do not love our neighbor. . . . [W]ith reference to scripture, we are engaged in contestation about which texts to read and how to read them.” Join Rev. Ateek, Canadian scholar Dr. Magi Abdul-Masih, and other distinguished colleagues for what promises to be a memorable and thought-provoking event.
