Organization Background

Our Mission: Inspiring Canadians to work for a just peace in the Middle East

NECEF Canada was founded in 1984 as a volunteer-based charitable organization. NECEF (Near East Cultural and Educational Foundation) is the Canada’s original charity focussing on Middle East justice and peace. Canadian Friends of Sabeel (CFOS) was founded in 1998. It became a project of NECEF in 2011, and is now the brand name of the organization in the public arena.

We work with the Canadian churches, communities of all faiths, non-governmental organizations and other like-minded networks and organizations to accomplish our goals. We are actively engaged in partnerships of solidarity with the Palestinian Christian community. We focus on working towards a just, comprehensive and enduring peace in Palestine. We carry out our mission primarily through education and solidarity projects in Canada. Additionally, we raise funds for humanitarian, educational, community development, and health projects.
