Reflections on Canada’s Bid for the UNSC

June 14, 2020

As Canada vies for a seat on the United Nations Security Council, it is important for Canadians to reflect on Canada’s track record at the UN. In particular, Canada’s voting record on Palestine/Israel issues should be concerning, as the Canadian government tries to emphasize its role as a defender of human rights while simultaneously supporting the oppression of Palestinians on the world stage. Many Canadian have openly expressed their opposition to Canada’s candidacy for the seat as a result of their past votes in support of the Israeli occupation.
