James Graff Memorial Lecture 2019October 30, 2019
JGML 2019 – We are excited to announce the speaker for this year’s iteration of the annual James Graff Memorial Lecture. Samah Sabawi is an award-winning playwright, poet, political analyst and human rights advocate. She has written and produced the critically acclaimed plays Cries from the Land, Three Wishes, and Tales of a City by the Sea. She has co-authored the books: Journey to Peace in Palestine, and I Remember by Name: Poetry by Samah Sabawi which won the prestigious 2016 Palestine Book Awards.
The lecture will take place on
November 28th at 7:30pm at the
Victoria College Chapel in Toronto.
Samah is a Policy Advisor to Al-Shabaka: The Palestinian Policy Network, and member of the board of directors for the National Council on Canada Arab Relations (NCCAR). Her past work includes being public advocate for Australians for Palestine, Executive Director for (NCCAR) and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Canadian Foreign Service Institute’s Centre for Intercultural Learning.
Samah Sabawi has won multiple community appreciation awards both in Canada and in Australia for her activism for human rights and social justice. She is a PhD candidate at Victoria University.
