Layan Nasir taken by IDF again
On April 9, 2024, Layan Nasir, a young Christian Palestinian woman and university student, was detained by the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) and placed into Israeli military detention. She was taken away at gunpoint from her family home in the West Bank town of Birzeit. No arrest warrant or charges were laid. According to B’Tselem, an Israeli human rights organization, the IDF routinely arrests people without charge because, it says, those people are planning to break the law in the future. A person under administration detention can be held indefinitely, with no no legal proceedings or evidence revealed to them.
Rev. Munther Isaac of Bethlehem has been in contact with the family. In a post on X, he wrote, “Please pray for Layan and Layan’s family. Please pray for justice.”
